If you go to the foot of Mt. Dobong outside of the center of Seoul, you will come across Dobong History and Culture Trail. Here, you can enjoy a variety of interesting things, such as Hangul History and Culture Trail, Musu Valley, and the Joseon Dynasty Royal Tombs Trail.
There are eight roads divided into different themes. The Hangeul History and Culture Road is the road where King Sejong's daughter, Princess Jung Woo, whose tomb is located, is said to have contributed to the creation of Hangeul.
It was named after the fact that King Sejong created the Hangeul system, "Hunminjeongeum," but was unable to complete the alternation of sounds. After that, various members of the royal family tried to analyze it but were unable to complete it.
It is said that the princess analyzed all of them. Along this road are Wondangsaem Park and Banghak-dong. Wondangsaem Park is the site of the ancient temple of Bapyeong-yun, who lived about 600 years ago.
There is a spring in Wondang Village that was used by the family of the late 19th-century leader of the Korean War for hundreds of years. The oldest tree in Seoul, the ginkgo tree in Banghak-dong, is about 600 years old.
It is said that if such a thing were to happen, a great change would come to the country. In addition, the tomb of King Yeonsangun, the 10th king of the Joseon Dynasty, and the tomb of Princess Jeongui are impressive, standing against the surrounding mountains and sky.
Dobong History and Culture Trail offers tours for groups and individuals to enjoy collecting stamps.
