韓国与党代表、大統領との夕食会の成果に「ただ食事をしただけ」…「意思疎通の過程」
South Korean ruling party leader says dinner with president was ”just a meal”... ”a process of communication”
Han Dong-hoon, leader of the ruling party People Power Party, said on the 25th that the outcome of his dinner with President Yoon Seok-yeol was, "We just had a meal," and "the process of communication was not good."
"I hope that people will take a long-term view of this," he said. Speaking to reporters at the National Assembly that afternoon, Han said, "I cannot make such a sweeping statement as to whether there were results or not."
"I think the presidential office probably shares my views on finding solutions to important issues," he said. The dinner was the second of its kind held by the ruling party leadership since President Yoon took office.
Unlike the previous dinner, there was no opportunity for Chairman Han to make an opening remark, which has led to the view that the "Yun-Han conflict" has been reaffirmed. In light of this, Chairman Han explained to reporters
When asked if there had been a response to his second request for an exclusive meeting with the president, he simply replied, "Let's wait and see."
Han also commented on the perception that the meeting was an "empty-handed dinner" (a fruitless meeting), saying, "It seems like there will be talk about pending issues."
"It was not a matter of dialogue," he said, explaining, "Politics is about dialogue for the sake of the people's livelihood and finding good solutions. In that process, I don't think it's an issue that can be interpreted as a conflict between the government and the ruling party."
When asked if he was considering a three-way meeting with the president, including ruling party floor leader Chu Kyung-ho, he said, "I need to have a heart-to-heart discussion with the president about important issues.
I think there is a need for it," he emphasized.
