Former President Moon's daughter's two cars fined at least 11th time... with overdue payments - South Korea
Moon Da-hye (41), the daughter of former President Moon Jae-in, who was indicted on charges of drunk driving, was found to have illegally parked her car before drinking alcohol.
It was confirmed that she had been fined at least 11 times and had been in arrears several times. According to the Yongsan District Office on the 8th, before appearing in Drunk Driving on the 5th of this month, Dahye was in Itaewon.
Although he illegally parked his Hyundai Casper in an alley for about seven hours, he was not fined by the enforcing agency, the Yongsan-gu Office.
At the time, there was no report from citizens about Dahye's illegally parked car, and no enforcement was done at the scene, so the government was forced to impose a fine.
The district office explained that there was no evidence. If the crackdown had been carried out, the maximum overcharge of 50,000 won (approx. US$50) would have been incurred, in accordance with the rule that an additional 10,000 won (approx. US$11) would be charged for parking for more than two hours.
However, it was discovered that the Casper owned by Dahye had a record of failing to pay fines for parking violations on two previous occasions.
According to the car's registration records, the Casper was owned by former President Moon and was parked in Seoul in June last year for a parking violation.
He was fined for failing to pay the fine and his car was seized in November last year. It is unclear who the driver was at the time. In April this year, the name of the driver was changed from former President Moon to Da-hye.
The same car was also seized in Jeju in August due to non-payment of fines. The Kia Sorento that Da-hye had been driving before she got the Casper was also seized at least nine times.
It was revealed that the property had been subject to seizure due to non-payment of fines several times, but it has not been confirmed whether the property was actually seized.
At around 2:51 a.m. on the 5th, Da-hye was driving a Casper in front of the Hamilton Hotel in Itaewon, Yongsan-gu, when she collided with a taxi behind her while changing lanes.
Police, who were called in by the victim's taxi driver, conducted a breathalyzer test and found that Dahye's blood alcohol level was 0.149%, which is the level required for license revocation (0.08% or higher).
The police are currently coordinating the date for summons with Da-hye's side.
