North Korea: ”Not a single case of coronavirus infection since August 2022”
North Korea claimed in its report on the human rights situation that "not a single case of COVID-19 virus infection has occurred since August 2022."
On the 10th (local time), North Korea submitted a report to the UN Human Rights Council for its Universal Periodic Review (UPR), stating that "COVID-19 has caused
"UPR is the United Nations Human Rights Council, which is based in the United Nations Office in Geneva and is made up of 193 countries.
The procedure involves a four-and-a-half-month review of the human rights situation and the implementation of recommendations. With the implementation of the UPR scheduled for November this year, North Korea has submitted a report on its own assessment of the progress of human rights improvements for North Korean residents.
However, in the section describing the right to health of North Korean residents, an issue over which the international community has continued to express concern, an explanation about COVID-19 was included.
North Korea said, "Since May 2022, a malignant disease has been entering and spreading within the country," and "we have closed off all routes by land, sea and air, and have established a home medical system."
"We effectively operated a national emergency medical center and telemedicine system to identify those with fever and provide isolation treatment to those who are infected," he said.
"All pharmacies are now providing 24-hour service," he said, adding, "By implementing such a top-level quarantine system, we have achieved results in less than three months."
The report states, "Thanks to North Korea's successful quarantine measures, 4.7 million 'fever carriers' have fully recovered, with a mortality rate of only 0.0016%."
Since last month, not a single case of someone carrying the malignant virus has been reported."
