Russian President Vladimir Putin has submitted a bill to the State Duma to ratify the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Russia and North Korea, which was signed in June of this year.
In Russia, the ratification process for the treaty is carried out through the lower house of parliament. On the 14th (local time), the Russian state-run TASS news agency reported that "the treaty will be signed in Pyongyang on June 19, 2024.
A federal bill entitled "To ratify the Treaty on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the Russian Federation and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea," which was signed by the two countries and signed by the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), was posted on the State Duma's electronic database on the same day, the report said.
The treaty stipulates that if either side is attacked by armed aggression and faces a state of war, the other side will provide military assistance without undue pressure in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter and North Korean and Russian law.
"The document includes the phrase "Russia and North Korea have elevated their relationship to the level of a military alliance."
