Soccer player Hwang Ui-jo sentenced to four years in prison for illegal filming in South Korea

The prosecution has requested a four-year prison sentence for soccer player Hwang Ui-jo (32), who is on trial for illegal filming. Fans have consistently said that after the sexual intercourse video was circulated,
On the 16th, the Seoul Central District Court indicted him for violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes (for filming).
The first hearing was held for the fan who was indicted on charges of using cameras to film videos of his friend and other people. The fan admitted to all the charges and agreed to the evidence submitted by the prosecution, so the trial was quickly concluded without any dispute.
The prosecution requested that Fan be sentenced to four years in prison. The prosecution said, "The victim suffered irreparable damage due to the distribution of the footage," and "Although the defendant has denied the charges,
"The process by which he came to confess despite his guilt is questionable," he said, stressing that severe punishment is necessary. Fan's sentence is scheduled to be announced on December 18th.
Fan, who appeared in court wearing a black suit, kept his head down throughout the trial.
"We apologize to the victim and all soccer fans," he said, "and we deeply apologize for disappointing everyone who supported us."
Fan is accused of recording sexual relations without victim A's consent four times between June and September 2022. He also recorded victim B naked during a video call with her.
She is also suspected of being a perpetrator of a crime. Hwang's sister-in-law, Lee, who spread the video on social media, was sentenced to three years in prison. Hwang's side said, "It is true that we contested the crime out of resentment during the investigation, but
"At this stage in the case, he has admitted his mistake. He has donated a considerable amount of money and engaged in volunteer work to promote the development of youth soccer," he said. "He cannot deny his mistake, but he will not settle with just one victim.
"What circumstances exist? We hope that the defendant will be able to return to playing soccer in the future."
