Director Yeon Sang-ho explained the reason for choosing Kim Sung Cheol as the new face for season 2, saying, "I've heard a lot of people say that he's a good actor. The best thing about him is that he's a good actor.
He said, "He had a very similar vibe to my comic book character, Jung Jin-soo," and "When we met and talked, I felt a lot of energy."
He continued, "I thought it might be a double-edged sword, but I thought it was better to use the role well than to take on the risk.
The director also expressed his trust in Kim, saying, "I went to see actor Kim Sung Cheol's musical and the energy I saw there was amazing.
"There are cases of double casting in musicals, but I don't think this is an unusual situation for actor Kim Sung Cheol."

When I was young, I was scared of the original work, but since I had been doing modeling up until now, I maximized it.
"I had a personal desire to embody that," he said. "It was the same in 'Hell 2.' I tried to act out the voice and facial expressions that would make me think, 'That's how Jung Jin-soo would talk.'"
Kim Sung Cheol added, "It's not certain, I just brought it with my imagination. I plan to express and show a hell that no one has ever experienced in a new way, but I think Jung Jin Soo experienced it.
I think the viewers will feel the same way I did about what hell that was like. I tried to maximize that emotion even more."
Kim Hyun Joo, who is returning for season 2 after three years, said, "I'm happy that I can do the same work twice in a season.
