A homeless man in his 60s who broke into Seoul National University and stole cash was arrested and detained eight years after the original crime.
Seoul Gwanak Police Station reported that a man was arrested late last month on suspicion of nighttime burglary.
On the 1st, the prosecution announced that a man in his 60s, suspect A, had been handed over to the prosecution under arrest. Suspect A entered several buildings on the Seoul National University campus in Gwanak-gu, Seoul, and entered laboratories and professors.
The suspect is suspected of stealing 2.19 million won (approximately 240,000 yen) in cash from the school's classrooms and other places.
It was confirmed that the same person was responsible for the same theft in 2016. Police investigation revealed that suspect A had stolen cash several times in 2016, 2023 and 2024.
It was confirmed that suspect A mainly committed the crimes by entering through a window on the fourth floor of the building located on a ramp and exiting on the first floor.
