The 30th plenary meeting of the Korea Communications Review Committee (KCRC) was held on the 4th at the Mokdong Broadcasting Center in Seoul.
On July 30th of last year, NewJeans appeared on SBS's "Inkigayo" and performed their new song "ETA." On the same day, NewJeans announced that they would be releasing the latest iPhone.
The model was used to take pictures of each other for about 20 seconds, but since NewJeans was using them as models for the iPhone at the time, this was considered excessive indirect advertising.
In response to this, the RRC decided to give the SBS drama "Inkigayo" a "warning" as a legal sanction after hearing the opinions of the people involved.
In terms of legal sanctions, this will be applied as a reason for points deduction when a broadcasting station is re-approved or re-approved, and will be considered a severe punishment. An SBS official said, "The scene that was broadcast was no different from an (iPhone) advertisement.
"It was our mistake," he said. "Using a concept in a music video is a common production method, so the production staff accepted it without any awareness of the problem.
Regarding the fact that the iPhone advertisement was sent out as soon as the broadcast of "Inkigayo" ended,
"It seems that the production staff did not realize that the advertisements would be so similar to the NewJeans stage," and later said that they had replaced the producer.
Chairman Ryu Hee-rim pointed out, "If they appear doing the same choreography as in the music video while filming it on their cell phones, how could any viewer not mistake it for an advertisement?"
On the same day, the RAJ also announced that MBC's "I Live Alone - Happy Life of a Single Person," a program for viewers aged 15 and over, had included the comment "Seriously?" in a scene in which a cast member was drinking alcohol.
After hearing opinions, the RA decided to deliberate on the repeated use of subtitles such as "Kansoju (a type of shochu with no side dishes)" which have a crisp, delicious taste.
I saw the drinking scenes as glorifying drinking.
