”Due to the stress of raising children” - Mother arrested in South Korea for killing 7-month-old twins
The mother who turned herself in after killing her 7-month-old twin daughters due to stress over childcare has been arrested by police. On the 20th, Yeosu Police Station in South Jeolla Province arrested a woman in her 40s, A, on suspicion of murder.
The suspect, A, is accused of murdering 7-month-old twin sisters at his home in Unchon-dong, Yeosu-si, at around 8:30 a.m. on the 18th.
Suspect A committed the crime after her husband arrived to work, and called the police four hours later, at around 12:40 p.m., to turn herself in.
Immediately after the crime, suspect A got in a taxi and moved to Nandok Island, Yeosu, 30km away.
Police responded to the call and found the bodies of the infants dead in the bedroom and small room of A's home.
It was discovered that suspect A had once sought counseling for depression in the past, but that the illness was not recognized.
During police investigation, suspect A said, "I was taking care of the child alone and it caused me a lot of mental distress.
" Suspect A's husband was also reported to have said, "I think the guilt my wife feels towards our children is my fault."
Police plan to carry out an autopsy on the dead baby and also investigate whether the husband is responsible.
Due to the seriousness of the case and the risk that suspect A might flee, the police applied for an arrest warrant the previous morning and received the warrant from the court on the same day.
