LEE JIN HYUK (UP10TION), exempt from military service...congenital heart disease

Actor LEE JIN HYUK, a former member of the idol group UP10TION, has been exempted from military service. On the 27th, LEE JIN HYUK was exempted from military service due to a congenital heart disease.
LEE JIN HYUK previously underwent surgery due to a malfunctioning heart valve and is currently undergoing regular checkups.
LEE JIN HYUK, born in 1996 and 28 years old this year, appeared in the MBC drama "Bang Bang" broadcast in 2019.
On the television show Radio Star, Lee Jin Hyuk revealed that he was battling heart disease.
"I had the surgery right after I was born, so I'm not sure, but my heart valve didn't function properly," she said. "I thought everyone had scars on their chest, but when I was in elementary school, I thought, 'I'm the only one with a scar.'
He added, "I thought (the heart disease) was nothing, but when I joined the company to become an idol, my physical strength really dropped. I thought, 'My mother is having a hard time.'
"I was told, 'If that's the case, then you should just quit,' but I kept thinking, 'Why should I have to give up because of this? I have to overcome this,' and so I practiced every day," she confessed.
After that, LEE JIN HYUK's heart grew larger and his muscles developed. "My doctor said it was not an unusual case.
However, he was amazed that it was so rare for someone to overcome a chronic illness through hard work," he said, adding, "He still receives regular checkups every day."
Meanwhile, LEE JIN HYUK debuted in the idol group UP10TION in 2015.
In 2019, he appeared on "Produce X 101" and gained a lot of fans. This year, he is expanding his horizons as an actor by appearing on JTBC's "There's No Secret."
