Han Dong-hoon, the leader of the ruling People's Power Party, said on the 3rd that he would "make careful decisions on important issues" in response to the third Kim Gun-Hee Special Prosecutor's Act, which is scheduled for reconsideration in the National Assembly.
Han said at the end of the opening ceremony of the People's Power Seoul Women's Politics Academy held at the National Assembly Library that afternoon.
Immediately afterwards, in response to a related question from reporters, he said, "We are a liberal democratic party. There may be a diversity of opinions."
Regarding media reports that mentioned Han's "strategic ambiguity" ahead of the second vote on the bill to appoint Kim Kun-hee as special prosecutor, the vice president for strategic planning said, "It doesn't seem like an incorrect expression."
Regarding the fact that the National Assembly leadership was considering a "collective no-vote" response ahead of the reconsideration of the special prosecution bill for Kim Kun-hee's wife, Han said, "The People's Power Party is a liberal democratic party.
"If the law is used for a specific purpose, won't the public criticize it?" he countered. "I think this is something that came to mind at the idea level. It's not like that has actually happened.
In response to a question from reporters about the case of political broker Myung Tae-gyun, which is currently under investigation by the prosecution, Han said, "Many bigwigs from the ruling party are being implicated."
Han responded, "It's a kind of old-fashioned political system. I will do my best to improve that old-fashioned political system. And I am talking about carrying out political reform."
Referring to the 'Public Opinion Poll Primary Election Task Force (TF)' launched under the leadership of the director of the Yeouido Research Institute, he said, "I understand that the meeting began yesterday."
