Car sharing ”Socar” ”handlers” are popular among young people, earning money by carrying out tasks (South Korea)

According to Socar, a car-sharing company, the number of new "handlers" who perform various tasks related to the company's services and earn revenue from them exceeded 45,000 in the first October of the year.
The service was launched in 2018, but of the 160,000 total members, about 28.1% joined in 2024. Looking at the number of "handler" registrations among new subscribers, the majority were in their 20s.
This represents approximately 34.2% of the total, an increase of approximately 5.6% from the average of 28.6% from 2021 to 2023. Similarly, the proportion of people in their 30s was approximately 37.9%.
Any member who is 24 years of age or older and has had a driver's license for one year can register as a "handler."
The company earns revenue by performing a variety of tasks, from fueling to charging electric vehicles (EVs) and washing cars. There are no face-to-face services or initial investment costs, and the company's unique feature is that it can be performed by one person with just a smartphone.
This is why it is attracting attention from young people. Socar also operates about 60 types of vehicles, including sports utility vehicles (SUVs), EVs, and campers.
The number of "active users" who actively carry out missions increased 60.2% in May compared to the same period last year, due to the popularity of "handlers."
The number of cases has been increasing, reaching an all-time high.
