A man in his 20s was arrested by police after he posted a photo of a weapon on social media, saying he would "hit people" at citizens who had gathered at Gwanghwamun to protest the first declaration of martial law since South Korea's democratization.
According to Yonhap News on the 6th, Daejeon Western Police Station recently arrested a man in his mid-20s, who lives in Seo-gu, Daejeon.
On the 5th, Mr. A posted on his Instagram, "After the demonstration started at 3 p.m., 10 radical demonstrators were arrested.
He is suspected of making posts stating, "I will hit people I believe to be in their 30s and 40s, and I will not attack elderly or disabled people."
Mr. A then reportedly posted a photo of the murder weapon and wrote, "Do you think this is a joke?"
In a police investigation, Mr. A said, "I had no intention of directly harming (the demonstrators)," and "I did not intend to use any weapons.
After that, Mr. A said, "I'm sorry for causing social controversy with this protest," and "I should have thought of a more sensible way to do this."
"It was my carelessness that caused this," he said, apologizing. "My hopes for the success of South Korea remain unchanged, and I intend to participate sincerely in the investigation."
