Daegu Mayor: ”The 'treason frame' is a conspiracy to force Lee Jae-myung into early presidential elections” (South Korea)

Hong Jun-pyo, the mayor of Daegu, South Korea, said, "The 'treason frame' is a violation of the judicial risk of achieving impeachment, and the Democratic Party's Lee Jae-myung, who is running out of time, is in a difficult position."

Mayor Hong said, "The original purpose of the 'crime of treason' is to 'seize power,' but how can someone who is already in the presidency seize power now?" and added, "Emergency martial law is being implemented.
The right to declare a state of affairs is the president's authority over national affairs, and as an act of high governance it is not subject to judicial review. Can this be considered a "civil war"?"
He continued, "Just because the reason for the 'emergency law' was inappropriate, does that immediately make it a 'crime of treason?'" and "The opposition party has filed more than 20 impeachment lawsuits,
"The investigation has paralyzed national politics, and what's worse, impeaching the prosecutor who is investigating him is 'legislative violence' and a 'disruption of the Constitution,'" he said.
He also said, "In order to steer public opinion in favor of impeachment, the opposition parties are trying to get the public to see it in the 'insurrection frame.'
Mayor Hong added, "The final decision-making power does not lie with the investigative agency, but with the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court, as stated in the Constitution."
He continued, "We must make a calm and cool-headed decision," and "We will not be swayed by emotion and will not go along with the 'collective frenzy' of 'impeaching President Park.'
