The South Korean Ministry of Education has decided to provide tuition support to the victims and their families in connection with the Jeju Airlines passenger plane crash at Muan International Airport.
The Ministry of Education said, "We will reduce the university tuition fees for the victims of the Jeju Air passenger plane accident and their families for one year (up to two terms)
The recipients of the support are the victims at the time of the accident and their families. Direct relatives, siblings, or spouses who are currently enrolled in a university in South Korea or who are enrolled in the 2025 academic year
All students who are enrolled in the university are eligible to receive the support. Starting from the first semester of this year, the full amount of tuition fees will be covered for one year, regardless of income level. The Ministry of Education said, "The necessary procedures, such as submitting a payment application form, will be handled separately by the recipients.
"We plan to announce the details of the flight," he said. When the Jeju Air passenger plane, which departed from Bangkok, Thailand with 181 passengers on board, landed at Muan International Airport in South Jeolla Province on the 29th of last month,
The plane exploded after colliding with an exterior wall. Two crew members were rescued, but the remaining 179 passengers died. An Education Ministry official said, "We are aware of the related requests from the bereaved families."
He added that "we are currently checking whether the victims' families are university students."
