SUPER JUNIOR's LEETEUK explains why he reused costumes from SM concerts... ”Making the clothes alone costs millions of won... It's a waste to wear them only once”

Idol group ‘SUPER JUNIOR’ Leeteuk explained on behalf of his stylist when complaints about the re-use of stage costumes arose.

On the 12th January, Leeteuk made a live broadcast via his YouTube channel after his performance at ‘SMTOWN LIVE 2025 [THE CULTURE, THE FUTURE] in SEOUL’ at the Gochuk Sky Dome in Seoul.

On this day, Leeteuk talked about his stage costume for SM's group concert. Leeteuk talked about the so-called re-use of his previous costumes, saying "Actually, the stylists didn't have a lot of money to produce the costumes for this concert itself, and if they did, it would be used to pay for their activities. (SM's) performances are not many either", he explained.

Leeteuk said, "I wore my past outfits again. Please don't say too much. It costs millions of won to produce a costume. Costume costs are both sponsored and produced, but production is not cheap. We take all the measurements and produce it directly according to the measurements," he said, adding, "The reason why we talk about it again and again is that there could be misunderstandings. The stylists have worked very hard, but the fans are unaware of these circumstances and say, ‘Are they doing their job or not?’ The stylists are not in a position to talk. It is only when I talk to them that they can understand" he explained.

He added, "The more costumes we make, the more it is added to the production cost of the performance, or it goes to our activity fee, so sometimes I think it's a waste if I don't wear it after paying expensive money to have it custom-made and wearing it once. We wear it again for a reason. If we re-use them too much, we say, ‘This is no good’."

Leeteuk also placated fans who didn't like the re-use of outfits, saying, "I'll wear what I wore today and I won't wear what I wore tomorrow again tomorrow. The members wear different make-up every time, so I feel like I'm wearing new clothes again. Please understand that this outfit was due to such circumstances."

Netizens, including fans, responded to this by saying that they could understand, that it was a bit of a waste to produce clothes for an eventful concert that was not a tour, and that it was rather environmentally destructive to produce clothes to be worn once.
