South Korea indicts head of sex crime ring known as ”Second Room N” and ”Pastor”

The head of an organization that used Telegram to commit cyber sexual crimes against a total of 234 people over the past five years was referred to prosecutors on the 24th. The organization is the suspect in the so-called "Nth Room Incident" that occurred in 2019.

A suspect, A (33), was sent to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office. A, who was wearing a black mask, black pants and a long jumper that reached his knees, asked the prosecutors whether he had committed the crime to satisfy his sexual desires or whether he had committed the crime.
"Do you admit all the facts of the crime?", "Do you feel sorry for the victims?", "Why did you think you could escape from the police?", and so on. Without answering any questions from the reporters, he got into the police van.
According to the police, suspect A formed a pyramid-shaped sex crime organization called the "vigilante group" from May 202 to January this year. He imitated the TV series "God of Narcos" and called himself a "pastor."
It was revealed that the suspect A, who called himself a "monk", had a hierarchy of butlers, evangelists, reserve evangelists, and others under him who obeyed orders from above. The organization was searching for targets for sexual exploitation regardless of age or gender, and was sending messages via Telegram.
In the process, they threatened her, telling her to "report on your daily life every hour" and "write a letter of apology," and threatening to punish her if she did not comply with these orders, taking pictures of her naked and forcing her to commit suicide.
As a result of police investigation, the total number of victims reached 234, including 84 men and 150 women. This is about twice the number of victims in the "Doctor's Room" case (73).
Police began their investigation in December 2023 after receiving information from the victim, and with the cooperation of Telegram and the US Federal Investigative Agency, they arrested members of the organization one after another. Suspect A was arrested on the 15th of this month.
He was arrested at his home in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province on the 23rd. Suspect A was said to be an ordinary company employee who had graduated from college.
While the police are pursuing other members of the organization, on the 22nd, they will release personal information on suspect A.
An opening committee is being held to discuss whether to make public the face and name of suspect A.
