Pharmacist who sprayed capsaicin into customer's eyes... vision not restored = South Korea

A pharmacist in his 40s was found guilty of spraying capsaicin into the eyes of a customer during an argument in South Korea. According to the legal community on the 13th, Judge Song Seong-hye of the Incheon District Court's Criminal Division 8 found guilty of special injury.
The previous day it was announced that the pharmacist A (42, female), who was indicted on charges, had been sentenced to eight months in prison with two years of probation.
On the afternoon of October 16, 2023, Mr. A sprayed capsaicin on the face of customer Mr. B (75) at a pharmacy in Incheon.
Capsaicin is the main component of hot peppers and is a plant-derived substance extracted from peppers and chili peppers. It is used in medicines and flavorings.
Ms. A had an argument with Mr. B, who had visited the pharmacy, and was questioned by him about whether she had done something wrong. She became angry and committed the crime. She then gave Mr. B a pistol-shaped capsaicin gun.
It was determined that the spray had been fired three times, resulting in injury. After getting capsaicin in his eye, Mr. B ran out of the pharmacy complaining of pain and collapsed on a nearby sidewalk. He was taken to the hospital by an ambulance.
B was diagnosed with a dislocated artificial lens, and after about 10 days of outpatient treatment, he finally underwent surgery to replace the artificial lens. After the incident, B's vision, which had deteriorated since before, improved.
Judge Song said, "The victim appears to have suffered considerable physical and mental pain as a result of the defendant's crimes. The defendant deposited 5 million won in compensation, but the victim's recovery was unsatisfactory."
"We took into consideration the fact that the individual wished to face criminal punishment," the court said in explaining the reason for the sentence.
