Support ratings for ruling party and main opposition party in ”close race” for sixth straight week in South Korea
The results of a public opinion poll announced on the 28th showed that "the approval ratings for South Korea's largest opposition party, the Democratic Party of Korea (Democratic Party) and the ruling party, the People Power Party, have been in a close race for the sixth consecutive week."
According to a survey of party support rates conducted by the Korean polling organization "Gallup Korea" on the 25th to 27th of this month among 1,000 men and women aged 18 and over in the fourth week of February, the Democratic Party
The approval ratings for the ruling party and the Democratic Party were far apart from each other from the December 3 emergency state of emergency until the survey conducted in the third week of December (Gallup Korea).
However, the surveys published this year over the past six weeks show a close race. The next most popular are the Fatherland Reform Party (3%) and the New Reform Party (2%), with independents making up 19%.
Meanwhile, in response to the question, "Who would be suitable to be a future president?" the answer "Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung" came in first with 35% of respondents.
Next was Kim Moon-soo, Minister of Employment and Labor, with 10%, followed by Han Dong-hoon, former chairman of the ruling party, and Hong Jun-pyo, Mayor of Daegu.
The top three candidates were Mayor Lee Myung-bak and Mayor Park Geun-hye, with 4% each, and Seoul Mayor Oh Sehun with 3%.
