A bus driver in his 20s who collapsed from cardiac arrest on a city bus in South Korea performed CPR to save the life of the bus driver.
At 4:39 p.m., a passenger in his 20s who was holding onto a strap on a city bus traveling in Seomyeon, Busanjin-gu, Busan, suddenly collapsed.
At the time, the bus driver, Jeong Sang-ho (49), promptly stopped the bus and checked on the passengers.
After confirming that the passenger was not breathing, the driver performed CPR. He continued CPR and instructed other passengers to call 119 and to help the passenger recover his limbs.
Fortunately, the passenger regained consciousness and breathing within about 10 seconds, and was placed in an ambulance that arrived shortly thereafter and taken to the hospital.
Driver Chung, who has been with the company for three years, learned CPR through regular safety training for bus drivers.
He said he was learning.
