Public broadcasting news program ”Election fraud edition” suddenly ”cancelled”... Why = South Korea
South Korea's public broadcaster KBS canceled the broadcast of a current affairs educational program that dealt with the birth and spread of the theory of election fraud, sparking outrage from the production team.
On the 28th, KBS and other media reported that the program "60 Minutes Pursuit - Extremism and Its Pursuit," which was scheduled to air at 10 p.m. on KBS, was cancelled.
The broadcast of "Servants: The Origins of Martial Law Part 2" was canceled. The documentary "March 1st Independence Movement Project - The Taegeukgi of Forgotten Independence Movement" was scheduled to air at this time.
KBS said, "We postponed the broadcast of '60 Minutes of Pursuit'" and "It is a documentary about the March 1st Movement (the day commemorating the independence movement that took place on March 1, 1919 under Japanese rule)."
In response, the production team said, "The management predicted that the protesters who had descended on Yeouido might suddenly turn into rioters.
"Based on this reason, the broadcast was postponed," he said, adding, "I cannot contain my anger that the decision to postpone the broadcast was made unilaterally the day before it was to be aired without any discussion whatsoever with the production team."
The National Press Union's KBS Headquarters Dispute Countermeasures Committee (KBS's labor union) also requested the management to hold an emergency fair broadcasting committee meeting, but was refused.
He said.
