At the 9th Harbin Winter Asian Games held last month, the national team won six gold medals, four silver medals, and three bronze medals, achieving the remarkable feat of taking first place overall for the seventh consecutive time.
After observing the national team's training, the lawmaker said, "With the 2026 Milan Winter Olympics approaching, we desperately need support for the athletes' training in different locations, but we are facing difficulties due to a lack of budget.
"The infrastructure for professional short track teams is not well-developed, and it is difficult to attract national team athletes," he said, promising to enter into discussions with the relevant departments for support.
"The reality is that it will be difficult for players to find a stable team to join after they retire," he said, adding, "We will continue to consult closely with the relevant departments so that the issues discussed on-site today can be resolved as soon as possible."
He continued, "Even though the nation is in a state of turmoil, sports always brings us together as a people, providing us with the miracle of uniting the people," and "I will continue to work hard to make the Republic of Korea shine."
I would like to express my deep gratitude to the national team athletes for conveying this hope to the Korean people."
