Support ratings for ruling party and largest opposition party in ”close race”... 56% of voters say ”President Yoon should be impeached” = South Korea
The results of a public opinion poll announced on the 6th showed that "in South Korea, the ruling party People Power Party and the main opposition party Democratic Party of Korea (Democratic Party) are in a close race in terms of approval ratings for political parties."
Four South Korean polling companies, Mbrain Public, KEI Stat Research, Korea Research, and Korea Research, conducted a survey on the 3rd to 5th of this month.
According to the National Barometer Survey (NBS), conducted among 1,000 men and women aged 18 and over, support for political parties was calculated to be 35% for the Democratic Party and 34% for the ruling party.
Next were the Fatherland Reform Party (6%), the New Reform Party (2%), and the Progressive Party (1%).
Regarding the impeachment trial of President Yoon Seok-yeol, 56% of respondents said that the Constitutional Court should "remove him through impeachment," and 30% said that it should "abandon impeachment."
Regarding the next presidential election, 48% of respondents said that "the opposition candidate should win" in order to bring about a change of government, while 37% said that "the opposition candidate should win" in order to bring about a change of government.
39% of respondents said that the ruling party candidate should win the election. Meanwhile, for the question of who is most suitable to be the next president, Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung came in first with 29%.
Following him were Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Moon-soo (10%), Seoul Mayor Oh Sehun (8%), former ruling party leader Han Dong-hoon (6%), and Hong Jun-pyo (8%).
