Residents ”thought it was a war”... Fighter plane accident: Experts ”It's questionable that two planes could have made the same mistake at the same time” = South Korea
After the "fighter plane misbombing accident," residents of Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province, complained that they "may become traumatized." Experts have questioned whether any checks were made before the bomb was dropped, and how the situation has changed over the past few years.
He pointed out that a multifaceted investigation should be conducted to find out what restrictions were placed on the training process. Cho, who runs a restaurant in Pocheon, said on CBS Radio on the 6th,
"I heard a thunderous noise and immediately looked towards the window and saw black smoke rising," he said. "At first I thought they were just doing their usual training because it was a military area, but I had never heard such a loud noise before.
At around 10:05 a.m. on the 6th, a military bomb fell and exploded in Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province, injuring seven people.
The building was destroyed in the accident, and some residents are now living in a community center. Yang Wook, a researcher at the Asan Institute for Policy Studies, said, "In the past, there have been cases of training rounds being accidentally fired.
"There have been extremely rare incidents of bullets hitting a residential area, but I have not seen a case of an ordinary bullet actually hitting a residential area in the last 20 to 30 years."
"The MARK82 bomb weighs about 227 kilograms and the explosives weigh about 87 kilograms.
"It is a standard bomb that the Air Force uses widely in training and combat," he said, adding, "When two aircraft form a gang and the leader of the gang drops the bombs on a target, the eight bombs are designed to control an area (training)."
Regarding the cause of the accident, Yang said, "Such a mistake rarely occurs due to a defect in the aircraft." He also said, "The military investigation revealed that the pilot did not know the coordinates of the drop site."
"It appears that a mistake was made in the process of inputting the coordinates," he said. "The target was decided. The coordinates were entered into a USB flash drive on a computer or a training keyboard, and the USB was then connected to the aircraft to transmit the information."
So something unthinkable happened," he added. Yang pointed out that further investigations should be carried out into whether proper procedures were followed before the bomb was dropped.
Yang said, "Before dropping the bomb, there is a process of checking the target with the naked eye, so there are at least three confirmation processes," and "When the first bomb is dropped, the second bomb is dropped.
"The first plane will drop its bombs next, but I wonder if there is a procedure for the pilot of the second plane to check with him, and this needs to be investigated."
