”Life is suffocating”... Man who killed woman he didn't know on the street reveals identity (South Korea)

The face of Lee Jihyon (34), the suspect in the murder of a woman he did not know in Seocheon, Chungnam, has been made public.

On the 2nd of this month, at around 9:45 pm, the suspect brandished a weapon at a woman in her 40s who was passing by on a sidewalk in Seocheon County, killing her and abandoning the body.
The victim was found dead at around 3:45 a.m. on the 3rd in a vacant lot near the sidewalk. Police said that at around 11:56 p.m. on the 2nd, "the victim went out to exercise and stayed out until late at night."
The victim's family reported him missing, saying he had not returned home, and a search had begun. CCTV footage from the crime scene showed the victim walking along a deserted sidewalk with an umbrella, and the victim was seen walking along a deserted sidewalk for about 10 minutes.
Ten minutes later, the victim's umbrella was seen lying on the road. However, there were no security cameras near where the body was found.
Police tracked down Lee using nearby CCTV footage and made an emergency arrest at his residence in Seocheon County.
Lee told police, "I was recently scammed and lost a lot of money. I was under a lot of stress and felt like society wasn't going to help me. So I decided to take out the weapon."
On the 6th of this month, when he appeared in court for a pre-arrest hearing, Lee said, "I'm sorry," and "I did something I shouldn't have done."
"But life was so oppressive that I couldn't think of anything to do, and nothing worked," he said. Before the crime, he would wander the streets wearing a hat and mask, searching for his target.
The suspect, Lee, was also seen on CCTV browsing the property. Police believe that Lee had planned the crime in advance, including possessing a weapon.
Lee was reported to have worked in the Seocheon County area supporting people with disabilities until the crime.
The autopsy on the victim's body revealed that the cause of death was hemorrhagic shock. The victim was an ordinary company employee who had lived an honest life for her family.
The victim's family said, "We believe this was a planned crime," and added, "If he thinks he can get a reduced sentence by claiming he has a mental illness, that's not something you can do in this country.
"We must show that this is the case and give him the heaviest possible sentence," he said through the media. Police sent Lee to the prosecution on the 11th.
