In order to identify the suspect who recently threw a raw egg at a Democratic Party lawmaker in front of the Constitutional Court, eggs and mineral water bottles were collected from the scene and a detailed examination was requested from the National Forensic Service.
They are also using security camera footage to confirm who purchased the eggs and mineral water used in the crime.
Soon after, someone threw a raw egg, hitting Rep. Baek Hye-ryeon and Rep. Lee Geon-tae, who were at the scene.
In response, the police said the previous day that "his actions are deviating from a one-person demonstration."
The police have forcibly dispersed the protesters and formed a specialized investigation team to track down the suspects. Meanwhile, the police have reported that Lee Jae-jeong, a lawmaker from the Democratic Party of Korea, was assaulted near the Constitutional Court.
Police have received a report that a man in his 60s had assaulted Rep. Lee at around 10:30 p.m. the previous day, and are currently investigating the case before filing charges.
The man is accused of assaulting Rep. Lee by kicking him in the right thigh on the street in front of the Constitutional Court at around 6:10 pm the previous day.
However, the complaint from Rep. Lee has not been accepted to date.
A police official said, "We plan to take into consideration the seriousness of the case, accurately confirm the facts, and conduct a prompt investigation."
