Firefighting operations resume in North Gyeongsang Province with HYERI helicopters and equipment deployed in different locations (South Korea)

Firefighting operations resumed on the 27th, the sixth day since a forest fire broke out in North Gyeongsang Province, South Korea. Firefighting authorities are distributing equipment and personnel to the site to fight the fire as the forest fire continues to spread.
The plan was to deploy HYERI copters around Hahoe Village and Byeongsanseowon Confucius Institute in Andong from this day to prevent the spread of forest fires, but the weather conditions make it difficult to deploy HYERI copters.
A Forest Service official said, "Looking at the weather conditions, it seems difficult to deploy them in the morning." Fire department officials deployed 87 HYERI helicopters, 5,421 personnel, and 65 pieces of equipment during the day on the 26th.
Six vehicles were deployed, and 3,333 personnel were deployed after sunset to respond to the situation. A dry weather warning is still in place in North Gyeongsang Province, and it is expected that about 5 millimeters of rain will fall that day.
The fire is spreading to the northeastern part of the province, so there is no room for complacency. According to the Korea Forest Service, as of 7 p.m. yesterday, the affected areas of the three areas of Cheongsong, Yeongyang, and Yeongdeok, excluding Uiseong and Andong, were 16,190 hectares in area.
