To celebrate the release of ”1980: Our Gwangju Uprising,” special screenings of ”Taxi Driver: A Promise Across the Sea” and ”Spring in Seoul” have been announced.
Following on from "The Chiefs of the KCIA," "Spring in Seoul," and "A Taxi Driver," the film depicts the dark side of modern Korean history from the perspective of ordinary Korean citizens.
"Our Gwangju Incident" will be released nationwide from April 4th (Friday) at Cinemart Shinjuku and other theaters.
To commemorate the release of "Our Gwangju Uprising,"
Special screenings of "A Promise Across the Sea" and "Spring in Seoul" have been scheduled.
"The Chiefs of the Namsan Coalition" depicts the assassination of President Park Chung-hee, who had reigned as a dictator for many years, while "Spring in Seoul" depicts the military coup led by Jeong Du-hwan that occurred shortly after.
The Korean film industry has made these two films into masterpieces based on historical facts, leading to huge hits. However, we must not forget the film "Spring in Seoul" about the military who usurped the seat of power.
The historical tragedy of the Gwangju Uprising caused by the Korean government was a huge hit, just like the previous two films. The film depicts the upstanding citizens who called for democratization.
It was an emotional story of a taxi driver and a German journalist who awaken to a sense of mission to tell the world about the soldiers who massacred the people.
The film focuses on the story of an "ordinary family" who lived in a remote area, and shows how power has trampled on the small happiness of citizens, and how noble the desire to protect loved ones even in the midst of tragedy is.
The film depicts the true meaning of the Korean modern historical drama, sometimes with humor, but also with heartfelt emotion. A new masterpiece of Korean modern historical drama that cannot be talked about without tears has been born.

This work is a mix of fiction and is told from the military perspective, depicting the conflict between a security commander who aims to become a dictator and a capital security commander who tries to protect the country.
