韓国軍、4基目の偵察衛星打ち上げ成功…独自監視能力を強化
South Korean military successfully wraps up fourth reconnaissance satellite...strengthening independent surveillance capabilities
On the 22nd, the South Korean Ministry of National Defense and the Defense Acquisition Program Administration announced that the South Korean military's fourth reconnaissance satellite had successfully completed a wrap-up party at the Cape Canaveral Space Command in Florida, USA.
The wrap-up party took place around 48 minutes into the mission, and the spacecraft successfully separated from SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket about 15 minutes later and was placed into the planned orbit.
The satellite also successfully communicated with the ground station about 56 minutes later, and the condition was said to be good.
The performance tests will be led by the ADD, and after operational evaluation by the military, the missile will be deployed for full-scale surveillance and reconnaissance missions.
He emphasized that this strengthened the country's surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities. He said that this is a key part of the Korean three-axis system and will lead to improved "kill chain" capabilities to deal with the nuclear and missile threats posed by North Korea.
Unit 4 is equipped with a synthetic aperture radar (SAR) like Units 2 and 3, which have already undergone a wrap-up party. It can obtain high-resolution image information regardless of day or night or weather conditions.
The combined operation of the missiles will shorten the revisit cycle and enable faster and more accurate detection of North Korean provocations. The fourth missile is being developed by ADD and a South Korean company under the management of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration.
In addition to strengthening the military's capabilities, the project will contribute to the accumulation of South Korea's satellite development technology in order to respond to the international situation in which space security is becoming increasingly important.
Defense Acquisition Program Administration Director Seok Jeong-geun said, "We plan to hold wrap-up parties for the remaining reconnaissance satellites this year.
"If the wrap-up party for the microsatellites currently under development is realized, the South Korean military will be able to establish its own space forces and leap forward to become a defense and space powerhouse," he said.
The head of the agency also revealed plans to build a ground launch site in South Korea and aim to wrap-up a satellite on a rocket using domestic technology in order to enhance the country's space operations capabilities.
I made it.
