"It will only cause confusion," he said. Candidate Lee mentioned political retaliation during a TV debate in the Democratic Party's presidential primary the day before, saying, "I think that should never happen.
Regarding this, Shin said, "Candidate Lee has said in the past, 'I will always hide my political retaliation and then later reveal it in secret.'
"The public has already clearly seen his true nature, a man who has been shouting about justice but carrying out political retaliation himself," he said.
He also said, "What is even more brazen about (Candidate Lee) is that he is pursuing all the investigations and trials against him as 'political retaliation.'
"The point is that they are trying to hide the truth and provide endless exonerations. Denouncing the investigation as retaliation is itself an affront to the rule of law," he said.
Regarding Lee's pledge to separate the powers of prosecution from those of investigative powers, he said, "This is the most blatant and despicable form of political retaliation," and pointed out that the Democratic Party of Korea has agreed to the prosecution of former President Moon Jae-in.
Regarding his criticism of the move, he said, "Don't trample justice with talk of political retaliation."
