Students brandish weapons at South Korean high school, injuring six people including the principal

As school began its Monday routine in a high school classroom in Cheongju, a second-year special education student caused a disturbance by brandishing a weapon, injuring a teacher and school staff member.
According to the police and education authorities, at around 8:36 a.m. on the 28th, the police received a report that a student had stabbed someone with a knife in a classroom. When the police arrived, the student, Mr. A, had already stabbed someone with a knife.
The principal, the environmental practitioner, and the head teacher suffered extensive wounds to their chests and abdomens. The injured teachers were taken to the hospital and are receiving treatment.
The two were also injured by being strangled and suffered minor bruises, and will be treated at a hospital. None of their injuries are in danger of dying.
After brandishing the weapon, Mr. A jumped into a reservoir in a park near the school and was rescued and taken to the hospital. Initially, it was reported that the assailant was a student in a special education class, but the education department later confirmed that he was a student in a special education class.
The bureau has determined that the student is a special education student living in a regular class. Police are currently investigating the details of the incident, including the student's motive for causing the disturbance.
An official from the Chungbuk Provincial Office of Education said, "The school's vice principal is currently holding an emergency meeting to discuss the student's case.
We are currently investigating the circumstances that led to the disturbance."
