[61st Baeksang Arts Awards] Netflix's 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' wins four awards, but IU doesn't win any... 'Culinary Class Wars' wins the grand prize
The grand prize in the film category of this year's Baeksang Art Awards went to Hong Kyung-pyo, director of 'Harbin'. The grand prize in the broadcasting category went to 'Culinary Class War'.

The 61st Baeksang Arts Awards ceremony was held on the afternoon of the 5th at the Seoul Coex D Hall with TV personality Shin Dong-yeob and actors Suji and Park Bo Gum in attendance.

Hong Kyung-pyo, cinematographer of 'Harbin', won the grand prize in the film category. "The film was shot in Mongolia, Latvia, and Korea in the cold winter with strong winds and harsh cold,” said Hong Kyung-pyo, ”The production team, director, actors, and all the staff who struggled together through the difficult journey formed a strong bond with each other. The film is a film that was painstakingly and joyfully filmed."

He continued, “We share the glory and joy of this award with all our comrades who have devoted themselves with passion and dedication to the artistic perfection of the film."

'Harbin' also won the Best Picture award. The Best Director Award went to Oh Seung-wook for 'Revolver'.

The Best Performance Award went to Cho Jung Suk for 'Pilot' and Jung Do Young for 'Revolver'. The Best Supporting Acting awards went to Yoo Jae-myung for 'Happy Land' and Soo-hyun for “Ordinary Family,” while the Best Rookie Acting awards went to Jung Sung-il for 'War and Ran' and Noh Yoon-seo for 'Hearing a Sentence'.

In the broadcasting category, Netflix's “Culinary Class Wars” won the grand prize.
PD Kim Hak-min said, “Thank you Baek Jung-won, Ahn Sung-jae, the jury members and chefs for grabbing the center of the show,” and added, “I first came to Baeksoo 10 years ago. I was backstage. I thought I would never be able to feel how it feels to win the grand prize as a PD, but Baeksoo is amazing. I never thought I would feel like this. Something impossible happened,” he confided.

He added, “There is really nothing I could have accomplished, just as I was backstage 10 years ago, backstage for ‘Culinary Class Wars’ were 350 staff members, PDs who didn't sleep and broke more bones than I did,” and thanked the audience, saying, “I want to tell you how grateful I am."

The Best Picture Award went to 'When Life Gives You Tangerines'. The Best Direction Award went to 'Doubt', directed by Song Yong-hwa.

The Best Performance Award went to Joo Ji-hoon for 'Trauma Code' and Kim Tae-ri for 'Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born'. The Best Supporting Acting award went to Choi Dae-hoon and Yeom Hye-ran for 'When Life Gives You Tangerines' The Best Rookie Acting Award went to Joo Young Woo for 'The Tale of Lady Ok' and Choi Won Bin for 'Doubt'. The PRIZM Popularity Award went to Byun Woo Sook and Kim Hae Yoon for 'Lovely runner'.

The Variety Award went to Shin Dong-yeob and Lee Su-ji.

This year's Baeksang Arts Awards were held under the theme of “Voyage Toward, Voyage Toward,” with the hopeful message of popular culture and art that voyages toward various values.
