Acting Prime Minister Lee Ju-ho instructs the National Police Agency to ”protect and manage the safety of presidential candidates”

South Korea's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Lee Ju-ho, acting president, said that as the registration of candidates for the June 3 presidential election has now closed, he will be in charge of protecting and managing the safety of candidates during the election campaign.
On the 11th, he instructed the National Police Agency to take every possible measure. In particular, considering that social conflicts have recently become more serious, Acting Prime Minister Lee Ju-ho has decided to mobilize the maximum possible resources for this presidential election.
"Elections are the foundation of democracy, and any threats against candidates will never be tolerated," Acting Prime Minister Lee Ju-ho said, adding that the government must take appropriate security measures throughout the election campaign.
He called for special efforts to ensure the personal protection and safety of candidates.
