A seal and business card manufacturer in Seo-gu, Daejeon City said on the 14th, "We received an order to make business cards for Lee Jae-myung, but the customer was not allowed to pick up the cards and instead was induced to wire money, resulting in fraud."
The company's representative said a few days ago that he was a member of Lee Jae-myung's election camp, but did not reveal his name.
He was asked by the company to produce 3 million business cards for candidate Lee, which was equivalent to a sales of 2 million won (about 209,000 yen).
However, the customer did not show up on the day he was supposed to pick up the business card.
When the representative called, they allegedly induced people to send money by saying, "First, we would like you to send money to cover the cost of food you will need for your election campaign."
The company reported the matter to the police and filed a complaint for fraud.
Prior to this, on the 10th, a man had falsely represented himself as a member of the Democratic Party and was arrested in Inje, Yangyang, and Chuncheon in Gangwon Province.
The Democratic Party of Korea issued a statement announcing that such cases were occurring one after another, saying, "(This case) was a case where Lee Jae-myung's election goods were falsely ordered after the order was placed and he was a no-show.
"We can only conclude that this is a fraudulent attempt to damage the image of a Korean candidate. If there are any similar orders, we ask that you immediately check with the city or provincial party in the relevant area and we will take strict action."
I did.
