"He defended the military threat of North Korea," and criticized him for being "unfit to be the commander-in-chief of the armed forces." Rep. Song also announced at a press conference held at the National Assembly on the same day that candidate Lee's remarks from the previous day (19th) had been corrected.
"It is a shocking sophistry that one would think it was a direct reading of an order by North Korean leader Kim Jong Eun," he said. "Candidate Lee should immediately withdraw from the presidential race.
While campaigning in Seoul the previous day, Lee said, "The Yoon Seok-yeol administration has provoked North Korea for a long time, but North Korea has been resourceful and has endured well.
"It seems like that," he said, "Why did North Korea build a barrier? Perhaps they thought that tanks would advance north from the south (South Korea)."
Rep. Song said, "If that's the case, then it's possible that Lee has written almost all of the speech in Kim's own handwriting.
"It's an anti-national statement that was read out without a word change," he said, criticizing, "What country is this candidate from?"
Despite looting the property of South Korean people, they say they built a barrier because they were afraid of tanks heading north," he said, pointing out, "Do they have any concept of national defense?"
He also said, "Candidate Lee is unable to distinguish between friend and foe and has shown his ignorance of national security. He has shown his inability to distort the feelings of the Korean people who have endured for peace."
"Is it really okay to just ignore it and throw it away without any hesitation?" he said. He added, "Has South Korea ever attacked North Korea first? South Korea has always made efforts for peace first."
"Young soldiers who have worked hard and dedicated themselves to the country are now serving in an effort to provoke North Korea," he said, criticizing Lee.
