Gyeonggi Province, South Korea to provide latest GPU ”H200” and other equipment free of charge to AI SMEs and startups
Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, will provide NVIDIA's latest high-performance computing devices free of charge to small and medium-sized enterprises and startups related to AI (artificial intelligence).
According to Gyeonggi Province on the 22nd, the province will be accepting applications from companies participating in the "AI High-Performance Computing Resource Support Project" with the Next Generation Convergence Technology Research Institute until June of this year.
Gyeonggi Province is the first to offer not only existing high-performance GPUs such as the H100, but also the next-generation H200.
GPUs are high-speed computing devices essential for learning and executing AI models.
It is a next-generation product with significantly improved computing speed and efficiency compared to the previous model. Gyeonggi Province is the first local government in the country to be able to use NVIDIA's latest GPU, the H200, in a cloud environment.
In addition, the latest computing resources, such as the next-generation GPU "B200," which is an even more advanced version of the H200, will be gradually introduced to improve the scalability and sustainability of the high-performance computing infrastructure.
Companies can choose the resources they want from GPUs (graphics processing units) or NPUs (neural network processing units).
The resources provided can be freely used according to the company's development schedule and needs. In particular, the NPUs designed specifically for AI are made up of domestically produced products, accounting for more than 20% of the total resources.
The project is expected to contribute to the development of the "K-AI semiconductor ecosystem." The Next Generation Convergence Technology Research Institute, the project's lead organization, will collaborate with private cloud-based companies to provide resources to them.
In addition to providing these services, the company plans to also run community-centered support programs such as networking programs, success sharing events, and awards for outstanding companies.
Kim Ki-byeong, director of the Gyeonggi Province AI bureau, said, "For AI companies, the provision of high-performance computing resources is a real stepping stone to growth.
"We will provide generous support to enable innovative companies with potential to overcome the gap in AI infrastructure, take on the global market, and lead the ecosystem."
" he said.
