Members of the National Assembly's Administrative and Security Committee from three democratic and progressive political parties, including the Democratic Party of Japan, have called for an investigation into the conservative group Rivak School, which is suspected of illegally manipulating public opinion.
In the morning, lawmakers from three political parties, including the Democratic Party (Homeland Reform Party, Basic Income Party) issued a statement saying, "On May 31st, through media reports, we learned that the far-right group
"The truth about the pointless public opinion manipulation has been revealed," they said. They continued, "Ribak School, a far-right educational organization that supports Lee Seung-man and Park Jeong-hee, is arguing that 'they will save the country with their comments.'
"It has come to light that they have organized a 'Volunteer Army' and made malicious comments against the progressive camp," the lawmakers said. According to the lawmakers, they distributed online portal IDs and used them to send malicious messages to the people under the name Lee Jae-myung.
They manipulated public opinion by collectively creating false and derogatory comments about the Democratic Party's personnel affairs, such as the candidate for the Democratic Party, and increasing the number of sympathies by displaying them at the top of the rankings.
They continued their organized election interference, such as stealing false and defamatory statements about candidate Lee Jae-myung. The lawmakers said, "In addition, the Libacc School has given the volunteers who were publicly recruited to comment to the school the title of 'creative experience activity instructor.'
"We also found allegations that they issued a certificate for a student who has been admitted to the National High School of Education and employed him as a teacher at Nulbom (always lively like spring) Education," and "they used online public opinion manipulation to cover the public's eyes and created a biased education system."
"They even tried to manipulate the way children think. This is simply beyond the scope of what a private organization can do," he said, adding, "A thorough investigation is needed to determine the extent to which they are involved."
He added, "Now that it has been reported in the media, they will erase their tracks. The police should not miss this golden opportunity.
"Because this is a serious crime that targets a large number of people, it is necessary for the police to conduct an investigation that leaves no stone unturned," he said, adding, "We once again demand that the police conduct a swift and rigorous investigation."
