On the 9th (local time), Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino announced through X that he would be releasing the Bitcoin Mining OS (MOS) as open source.
"This will allow a large number of new bitcoin mining companies to enter the market and compete to keep the network secure."
The measure is intended to allow new mining companies to enter the mining market without relying on high-cost third-party vendors.
The company also describes MOS as "an expandable and modular system built around a P2P-based IoT architecture" and "a system that can be used to connect multiple containers and other power facilities."
"The open-source project is expected to be available until Q4 2025, and Tether is expected to launch in the near future."
This is part of a strategy to promote decentralization within the Bitcoin ecosystem. Tether previously partnered with mining pool Ocean in April to provide current and future
The company previously revealed that it would contribute 1.5 billion hashrate to the protocol, helping to decentralize block production.
