Coupang begins full-scale handling of branded goods through acquired company (Korea)
E-commerce giant Coupan plans to start linking its British luxury brand sales platform Farfetch, which it acquired, in 2024.
In October 2024, Coupang launched a platform called R.LUX to strengthen sales of branded products, and is selling about 1,400 branded products in Korea.
Farfetch's branded products can be viewed under the "Fashion" tab in the Luxe app.
The store will reflect the latest trends, including seasonal items announced during the fashion week. The store will carry a wide range of brands, from internationally renowned brands to those by young Korean designers.
Coupang plans to utilize its competitive edge in the logistics field in the delivery of branded goods. Customers can order Farfetch products through R Luxe's "Rocket Purchase Delivery" method, which delivers them quickly.
If you order from the store, you will receive free shipping on all products. For Wow members, the company will also offer free returns within 30 days.
Coupang's move comes after South Korea's leading brand makers such as Balan, which filed for bankruptcy protection amid financial difficulties.
It appears that the company is targeting a niche market amid stagnation in the overall platform market.
