Actor Kim Soohyeon sued by several advertisers for damages totaling 700 million yen... Lawsuits in progress
Actor Kim Soohyeon is facing a crisis as she is being sued for damages by numerous advertisers. On the 18th (today), a Korean media outlet reported that Kim Soohyeon had filed suit against the advertisers.
The company was sued for damages totaling 7.3 billion won (approximately 730 million yen) and was embroiled in numerous lawsuits for huge fines.
Cook Electronics, Cook Homeseeds, Cook Homeseeds Malaysia (a subsidiary of Cook International Bohad), and Medical Aesthetics Platform, which are affiliates of the Cook Group.
In particular, Cook Electronics, which had used Kim Soo-hyeon as an exclusive model for 10 years, had a provisional attachment of 100 million won (approximately 10 million yen) in April this year.
On the 8th of last month, medical equipment company Cresis also filed a lawsuit against Kim Soohyeon for a 3 billion won (approximately 300 million yen) investment in Galleria Foret apartment complex in Seongsu-dong, Seoul.
In addition, Prombio, a company specializing in health functional foods, filed a petition on the 16th of last month demanding damages from Kim Soohyeon and Gold Medalist.
It has been revealed that a civil lawsuit has been filed against the company that runs the Korean cosmetics brand "Dinto." The amount claimed is the largest, at 3.96 billion won (approximately 396 million yen).
The brand also joined the lawsuit in April of this year, one month after the contract was terminated, demanding 501 million won (approximately 50 million yen).
As a result, the amount of the lawsuit claim disclosed to date is △Cook Electronics
850 million won △ Cook Electronics, Cook Homeseeds, Cook Homeseeds Malaysia subsidiary Cook International Bohad total 2,029,863,013 won △ Trend Maker
The total amount of the investments is 7,339,863,113 won, including 501 million won from Car and 3,960 million won from PromBio.
It has been reported that they are considering filing a lawsuit against Soohyeon for damages. Normally, advertising contracts require compensation if the company's image is damaged through violations of the law or social controversy during the promotional period.
However, it is unclear whether Kim Soohyeon's actions before signing the advertising contract can be considered a violation of the obligation to maintain her dignity.
There is room for argument, and the two sides are expected to engage in a fierce legal battle over whether or not there was a breach of contract, the extent of the breach, and who is responsible.
