Former Daegu mayor: ”People's Power may disband”... ”This is not political retaliation, but the price of crime” = South Korea
Hong Jun-pyo, former mayor of Daegu, who returned from Hawaii, said, "The People's Power Party (currently the largest opposition party) may soon face the risk of being dissolved on the grounds that it is an unconstitutional party.
In an interview with a YouTube channel on the 18th, former Mayor Hong said, "I believe there are two reasons why (People's Power) is an unconstitutional political party."
The first is, "During the December 3 martial law uprising, former floor leader of the People Power Party, Chu Kyung-ho, gathered lawmakers at the party headquarters and disrupted the vote to lift the martial law" (Pro-martial law party)
The second criticism is that he tried to replace the party's official candidate, Kim Moon-soo, with former Prime Minister Han Deok-soo.
Former Mayor Hong criticized the candidate change, saying, "This is a bigger issue than civil war." He also pointed out that "the unconstitutional ruling on political parties is a political retaliation."
Regarding the matter, he said, "It will be carried out according to the rule of law," and added, "This is not political retaliation, it is the price of committing a crime."
