Kim Jin-ah, second vice foreign minister, chaired the meeting that afternoon and said, "The situation in Iran has become increasingly severe since the US attack on Iran's nuclear facilities.
"There is a risk that the situation could worsen further, so I ask that all possible measures be taken to ensure the safety of Korean nationals staying in the area," he said.
The meeting was attended by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials, including the Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Deputy Minister for Asian and Middle Eastern Affairs, and the official in charge of overseas diplomatic missions, as well as the ambassador to Iran. Vice Minister Kim also instructed the implementation of thorough measures to ensure the safety of Korean diplomatic mission staff in the country.
