He participated in anti-Japanese demonstrations and distributed leaflets in the Korean Concession. In 1933, he worked hard for the independence movement, serving as a member of the Foreign Ministry Propaganda Committee and the Propaganda Department Editorial Committee of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea.
He engaged in diplomatic activities while making contact with the United States and the United Kingdom. In particular, he arranged for Kim Gu and other key figures of the Provisional Government to meet with influential Chinese politicians, and Kim Gu was able to meet with Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek.
In recognition of this achievement, the government posthumously awarded him the Order of Merit for National Foundation in 1990.
By analyzing diplomatic documents from the US government and the UK, it was confirmed that An Shi-sa's English name was "David Ahn" in the 1940s, and that he was a soldier who fought in the Korean War.
Based on records that he had traveled to the United States at one time, we investigated information about his grave in the United States. It was confirmed that Yasushi had worked at the U.S. Embassy in Korea, but there were few records of his whereabouts after that, so it was unclear.
The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs confirmed that Ahn was buried under the name "David WS Ahn" in Sunland Memorial Park in Arizona, USA, and discovered his grave there.
After analyzing various documents, it was finally confirmed that the person buried there was An Shishi. He emigrated to the United States in 1952 and lived in New York and Washington DC before passing away in April 1982.
It is known that he passed away in Sun City, Arizona. Through this investigation of American graves, the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs discovered a total of 40 remains, including Song Heon-ju, who was buried in a cemetery near Los Angeles.
The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs has confirmed the location of 29 graves of independence contributors whose whereabouts were unknown, in addition to Ahn Ji-sa.
