A wave of tributes for the sudden death of the late ”famous Korean supporting actor” Song Young-kyu

Tributes continue to pour in for the late actor Song Young-kyu.

On the 4th (today), Song Young-kyu's social media accounts were flooded with comments from netizens expressing their grief, such as “I am very sad and in tears,” “He was an actor I admired for his acting skills, so I pray for the repose of his soul,” and “May he rest in peace.”

　Song Young-kyu was found dead inside a vehicle in the Choin District of Yongin City, Gyeonggi Province, around 8 a.m. on the same day. At this point, no evidence of homicide or a suicide note has been found.

　Song Young-kyu was arrested by police who responded to a report that he had driven approximately 5 kilometers from Gyeonggi Province's Yongin City Gihung District to Cheoin District in an intoxicated state on the night of the 19th of last month.

　According to the police, a breathalyzer test conducted on Song Young-kyu at the time confirmed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08% or higher, which is above the legal limit for license revocation. It was investigated that Song Young-kyu had been drinking with acquaintances in the Gihung area and had driven the car directly while returning home.

　The news of the drunk driving incident has also affected the works in which the deceased was appearing. The production team of the currently airing ENA drama 'iShopping' stated, “The work has already been pre-produced,” and “We will broadcast the scenes in which he appears to the minimum extent possible without affecting the flow of the drama or the viewers' understanding.” The production team of the SBS drama TRY ~We Will Become a Miracle~ (hereinafter referred to as “TRY”) also stated that it is a pre-produced drama that completed all filming in March this year, and revealed that the production team was also confused and disappointed to learn of the news through the media ahead of the first broadcast.

　Song Young-kyu is currently starring in “'iShopping' as Yoon Se-hun, the character responsible for money laundering for the main character Se-hee (played by Yom Jung-ah), and in 'TRY', he portrays Kim Min-jun, the rugby team coach at Daechang High School.
