Clip Service announced on the 14th that 'Aladdin' reached 300 performances in Korea, starting with the matinee performance at Dream Theater on August 13th. On this day, they held an event to share their joy by presenting all audience members with paper lamps signed by the nine lead actors.
“Aladdin” opened at the Charlotte Theater on November 17th last year and concluded its Seoul performances on June 22nd after 260 performances. The final city, Busan, opened on July 11th and achieved 300 performances in a single season by August 13th, approximately one month later. The 37 main cast members of the Korean premiere have led all performances from Seoul to Busan.
Choi Yeol, who plays Iago in the single cast, shared his thoughts, saying, “The top priority goal I set was to ‘consistently perform all shows smoothly,’ and I feel like we're getting closer and closer to achieving that goal.” So Man-sok, who plays Cassim, remarked, “On the first day in the rehearsal room, my heart was racing so fast it felt like it might explode, but 300 performances still feel unreal. I could do 3,000 performances of such a happy show.”
'Aladdin' is loved in Busan as well as Seoul. According to the KOPIS standards for performing arts integrated computer networks, the Seoul production of 'Aladdin' ranked first in musical box office sales for the first half of 2025. Despite being a regional production, the Busan production is currently ranked in the top 10 in terms of ticket pre-sales.
The Busan performance combines the appeal of a popular work with localized elements such as Busan dialect and references to local landmarks like Busan Station Exit 1 and Sajik Baseball Stadium, offering audiences an enjoyable experience. The Busan performance will continue until September 28th.
