On the 15th, TV CHOSUN announced, “The broadcast time for the weekend miniseries ‘The Confidence Man KR’ has been changed. Please note this when tuning in,” informing viewers it would move to Saturdays and Sundays at 10:30 PM.
Starring Park Min-young, 'The Confidence Man KR' had initially aired on weekends at 9:10 PM. However, it has now shifted to 10:30 PM, extending the broadcast by about 1 hour and 20 minutes beyond the standard time.
This scheduling change is presumed to be due to recent low viewership ratings. 'The Confidence Man KR' debuted with a 1.1% rating (Nielsen Korea nationwide) on the 6th. Episode 4, aired on the 14th, recorded 0.9%, tasting the bitter pill of falling to near zero. Despite Park Min-young's lead role and special support from actor Lee Yi-kyung, who co-starred in the hit predecessor 'Marry My Husband', the show couldn't gain traction.
Compounding the problem, the existing time slot also featured competition from tvN's weekend drama 'The Tyrant's Chef', making a comeback even more difficult. Starring Girls' Generation's YoonA and Lee Chae-min, 'The Tyrant's Chef' steadily climbed, surpassing a peak of 15.4% on the 14th to set a new personal best.
Attention is now focused on whether 'The Confidence Man KR', which shifted time slots in an attempt to change its fortunes, can capture an upward momentum.
Meanwhile, 'The Confidence Man KR' depicts the story of three “confidence men” (con artists), each possessing distinct charms, who employ bizarre methods to take money from people consumed by greed and desire.
