「BTS」SUGA、「ミン・ユンギ治療センター」がオープン
BTS' SUGA's 500 million yen donation and weekend volunteer work pay off... ”Min Yoongi Treatment Center” opens
The Min Yoongi Treatment Center, established with a 5 billion won (approximately 500 million yen) fund donated by Suga of the Korean boy band BTS, has opened its doors.
On the 30th (today), Severance Hospital announced that it had opened the Min Yoon-gi Treatment Center on the first floor of the Jejun building.
President Dong-seop, Yonsei Medical Center Director Keum Ki-chan, Severance Hospital Director Lee Kang-young, Severance Children's Hospital Director Kang Hoon-cheol, and Severance Hospital Department of Mental Health Medicine Ahn Suk-kyun
In addition to the department heads, Professor Jeong Gun-ah of the Department of Child Psychiatry, who is the director of the treatment center, participated, and external stakeholders included Kim YOUNG-JI, president of the Korea Autism Association.
Suga announced that he donated 5 billion won to Severance Hospital in June this year. He is working with Professor Jeong Geun-ah, a leading authority in the field of pediatric psychiatry at Severance Hospital, to continue to support the community.
During his time with BTS, SUGA was interested in mental health, psychological and behavioral issues, especially adolescent depression, and through several interactions with Professor Jung, he learned about autism.
There was consensus that a specialized treatment center needs to be established for the medium- to long-term treatment of spectral symptoms.
The 5 billion won he donated to Severance Hospital is used by Severance Children's Hospital.
This is the largest donation ever made by an artist to the entire Yonsei Medical Center. The center provides support for the mental health of children and adolescents through speech, psychology, and behavioral therapy.
The company plans to run a variety of programs that combine clinical and research. Suga's good deeds were not limited to financial support. He has been working as a psychiatrist for Cho from the second half of last year to the first half of this year.
Together with Professor Ng, he met with children with autism spectrum disorder and conducted musical outreach activities, including playing the guitar. In addition, he developed a social group program called "MIN" that combines music therapy with therapy.
At the same time, integrated treatment will be provided by not only child psychiatrists but also music therapists, speech therapists, behavioral therapists, and clinical psychologists.
In fact, when SUGA volunteered, A and B, who had not shown any positive reactions when they were only receiving speech therapy, chose to play musical instruments.
He showed an active interest in playing along with the rhythm. In addition, C, who plays the saxophone, hardly ever uses words or expresses his emotions, but he was able to express the emotions that arise in the process of working together with the other children.
The children showed great interest and responded to the therapists' praise with facial expressions. An event is also planned for the end of the year for children who have participated in the MIND program.
Professor Jung Guna said, "At the Min Yoon-gi Treatment Center, we not only improve the effectiveness of treatment by teaching children music,
"We hope that when people see children with autism spectrum disorder striving to become independent in society, their awareness of the disability will improve significantly," he said.
