An analysis of Google search data revealed that Canada is the country people most want to move to, with over 1.5 million searches recorded for "Canada immigration" in the past year.
However, FirstMove International says immigrants to Canada are struggling with high prices, with big cities like Vancouver and Toronto being some of the most expensive in the world.
In second place was Australia, which accounted for more than 1.2 million searches. Australia is known for its mild climate, friendly people, world-class education and public healthcare.
The country is attracting attention from people all over the world for its system. New Zealand came in third, followed by Spain and the UK. Portugal and Japan ranked sixth and seventh respectively, making them the wealthiest countries in Europe.
The wealthy nations of Germany, France, and Switzerland all made it into the top 10. On the other hand, the United States did not make it into the top 10. This is attributed to the high cost of living and anti-immigrant sentiment among Americans.
Six years ago, the polling organization Gallup conducted a survey of 500,000 adults in 154 countries from 2015 to 2017 asking "Which country would you like to emigrate to?"
This contradicts the results of a survey that ranked the United States first in the "winter season" survey. Nordic countries such as Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland ranked highly due to their long and harsh winters.
South Korea failed to make the list, and Japan was the only Asian country to make it into the top 10 countries people would like to immigrate to.
