North Gyeonggi's first pet theme park to be built in 2026 (Korea)

A project to build the fourth pet theme park in Gyeonggi Province, targeting the northern part of the province, is now moving forward in earnest.
On the 8th, Gyeonggi Province announced the results of the public competition for the northern pet theme park in Paju.
On the 9th, the city of Guri, Pocheon, and Dongducheon announced that they had accepted applications to participate in the project.
The pet theme park is a place where residents can spend leisure and vacation time with their pets, based on animal protection and welfare.
The project is a complex cultural space that will be developed for people to enjoy their time at home and work. The prefecture plans to select one site from the four cities after a month-long document review, on-site evaluation, and face-to-face evaluation process in July.
The evaluation will be carried out by an evaluation committee consisting of 10 experts from various fields who will review the validity of the business plan, feasibility, location conditions, suitability, etc.
The province will allocate up to 7.5 billion won to build a pet theme park and infrastructure (roads, electricity, communications, etc.) in one of the final cities selected as the suitable location.
The provincial government will support the project and move forward with the goal of completing construction in 2026. A provincial official said, "Each of the four cities that participated in the open tender project has its own characteristics and strengths.
"We will thoroughly advance the theme park construction project so that we can create a famous spot that will be the source of income and a leader in pet culture."
